Anne's Story

The letter read, ‘you have to go to hospital to be re-examined as there is a possibility that you may have breast cancer’. Those words scared me. I was only in my 40s. What had I achieved in that time? When I was in my early 20s I had such ideas. To go to New York and work with disadvantaged children. I even got as far as the interview. What happened? What happened was that I was scared! Go ahead 25 years. What had I achieved? To the outside world I had it all, a beautiful home, a loving family. But there was still this hole. The news came at the same time as my daughter left home and my cat died. It was the end of an era.

I knew that I could vastly improve my life, if I were to change the way I thought about myself. This was more than just saying; think good thoughts and you will feel good. My self-image beliefs began way in the distant past of my childhood. How do I change that? I knew I needed something that was going to give me a sense of fulfilment.

I heard about Life Coaching, which teaches people to realize their true potential, make changes and move forward in their lives, but always concentrating on the present.

I thought there must be a way to bridge the gap between counselling (which heals people of past hurts) and life coaching. I decided to use my experience in counselling and link my interest in history and detective stories and came up with the idea of dreamscatchers Life Coaching.

I now have the tools and strategies to live a happy life.
